2012 has kicked off in the green; and it appears green is a theme that strategic investor Dennis Gartman likes a lot.Gartman tells us his best trade going forward this year is ag. “Agriculture and the ability to ship the agriculture around the world – those are the two things to pay attention to,” he says.
As Gartman first told us back on March 19th, European farmers are suffering from droughts and other challenging conditions. And now, more than ever, Europe's pain looks like America's gain. “Our farmers are growing a monster corn crop – the biggest acreage in corn since 1937,” he says. “Back then all we grew was 30 bushels per acre and now we're growing 165 bushels per acres. And I expect that we export a lot of it.” As a result, “I’d own ag and the shippers who move corn,” he says. In case you’re wondering, ahead of the broadcast Gartman told us his favorite shippers were Diana and DryShips both of which move bulk freight. * And on a related note Gartman also likes Cheniere which moves nat gas and Frontline which moves oil.Page 1 of 4 | Next Page
