On Fast at 5, five-star manager Shawn Reynolds Van Eck Fund Co-Portfolio Manager revealed some of his favorite investment themes.

Theme #1 – Overseas Energy ExplorationTwo stocks Reynolds likes in the space are Pioneer Natural Resources and Cimarex. “Both of these names have the ability to add significant amount of reserves – big quantum chunks of reserves over the next several years and that’s what’s really attractive to us.”Theme #2 – Unconventional Oil PlaysHere Reynolds says look at Halliburton. “Unconventional oil (horizontal drilling, fracking, and shale gas) is big and profitable right now. You saw that in the Halliburton numbers. A lot of people were expecting the weakness in gas to impact them (but because of unconventional oil) those rig numbers were better than expected."
