Barclays Capital’s Wieseneck to Lead Investment Bank Strategy
CNBC.com | April 02, 2012 | 01:15 PM EDT

As the face of investment banking changes, Barclays Capital is appointing Larry Wieseneck to a newly created position spearheading the group’s strategy.

Wieseneck, a Lehman Brothers alum, will carry the formal title of chief strategy officer for corporate and investment banking, and also gets a seat on the bank’s executive committee.

Formerly, Wieseneck served as Barclays’ head of global finance and risk solutions. An internal memo this morning by investment banking co-CEOs said the position would be effective immediately.

We are pleased to announce that Larry Wieseneck will assume the newly created role of Chief Strategy Officer for Corporate and Investment Banking, effective immediately and based in New York. He will report to us, and joins the Executive Committee.

Barclays is operating in an environment of significant regulatory and market change, and we must remain disciplined and coordinated as we continue to gain momentum. Larry will work with all of our businesses and regions to ensure alignment between our intermediate and long-term strategic objectives, and our near-term goals and responsibilities. He will have global oversight in coordinating the execution of our strategy.
